The author joined the military in 2002 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army after graduating from college. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in management.
His first assignment was as a platoon leader in Europe. During this assignment, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has also served as a battalion adjutant and personnel officer. Following the assignments, he was designated as a brigade staff officer. In addition, he has held two separate company commands and has served on other staffs, ranging from battalion and brigade to general level.
His military education includes the officer basic course, captain’s career course, and various other courses throughout his time in the military. His military awards and decorations include: the Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Parachutists Badge, and the German Proficiency Badge.
