Paul Davey is married to Noel Knight’s niece, whose mother, Poss, was Noel’s younger sister. He runs a small property near Mudgee in Central New South Wales and his original herd of Devon cattle came from Noel’s Tannabah stock. Hence his interest in the Noel Knight story.
He is a journalist who worked for organisations including Associated Press of America, TCN Channel 9, Sydney, and ABC Radio current affairs, before assuming senior positions for many years with the National Party of Australia in Canberra and Sydney.
He is the author of four books on the National Party’s history – The Nationals – The Progressive, Country and National Party in New South Wales 1919-2006 (The Federation Press, Sydney 2006); Politics in the Blood – The Anthonys of Richmond (UNSW Press, Sydney, 2006); Ninety Not Out – The Nationals 1920-2010 (UNSW Press, Sydney, 2010); and The Country Party Prime Ministers – Their Trials and Tribulations (2011).
