The weather outside was cold but dry. Wes had taken Miranda, his first date with her, to a swanky restaurant, but still not overpriced. He had learned long ago to not take them to the most expensive place in town on the first date and get them spoiled to wanting to go there. He had also figured out that the golden gastro tubes fare wasn’t going to cut it either.

The hostess had seated them near the double sided fireplace. Across the fireplace and through the much too small fire Wes could see another couple at the table near the fireplace on the other side. The man was in his late 20’s from what Wes could see and the girl .. well she could have been a model. Unfortunately for Wes he was paying more attention to her than to Miranda. Lucky for him though that Miranda’s back was to the fire and she thought that Wes kept looking at her. The restaurant was only about half full even though this should be prime dining hour on a Friday night. Dallas was that way though, too many restaurants.
