Chapter One

There's nothing more fun than a skeptic who rains on your grand opening by appearing at your foundation two seconds before you arrive. But Clark W. Debunker (my pet name for Aaron Burgess, who should wear a cape over his underwear while saving the world from charlatans) has followed me all over, from Africa to China. Now, in America, as I open my newest branch of Paranormal Memory, the sight of my faithful shadow, spectacled and clean-shaven with a John Lennon mop-cut, generates a smile.

"Morning, C.W." My voice is loud and cheerful to compete with the swish, horns and grinding gears of passing traffic.
