Embroidered Fingerless Mitts

Simple embroidered running stitches add a quick pop of color to ribbed fingerless gloves.

Level

Beginner- Intermediate- increasing, decreasing, simple embroidery

Size

Women’s size large/men’s size small/medium. Finished size 8 inches around and 5 inches long after blocking. Thumb opening up to 3 inches around.

Yarn

1 skein Lamb's Pride Worsted (85% wool, 15% mohair; 113 grams/skein; 190 yards/174 meters) color M-151 Chocolate Soufflé, 20 yards red and 30 yards dk weight yard held double for embroidery or 10 yards red and 15 reds white worsted weight yarn

Materials

-1 set of five US #7/4.5mm double-point needles or size to get gauge

-Tapestry needle

-Stitch holder

Gauge

4.5 stitches and 6 rows an inch in ribbing

Abbreviations

Pm- Place marker

Mm- Move marker

Rm- remove marker

K- Knit

P- Purl

St- stitch

* to **- repeat from * to **.

K2tog- knit two together

M1- Make one by lifting strand between stitch just worked and the next one. Knit in to back of strand.



Directions

(worked from the bottom up, right and left are identical)

Bottom Hem

Cast on 40. Join, being careful not to twist.

Knit 15 rows *k3, p2** around.



Thumb Gusset

Row 1: K1, pm, m1, k1, m1, pm, work to end in ribbing as established. (2 st increased, 3 st between markers.)
