Let me begin by thanking you for the purchase and enjoyment of this book. In sharing these and other poems with others over the years, I have found great joy in the ability of my words to effect others emotionally, so much so that in one case, a reader asked for permission to have a particular stanza permanently etched into her skin via tattoo. While my hope is not for you to take my words to that extreme, I do hope that at least one of these pieces comes to hold a special meaning for you.
After special consideration, I have included the lyrics to “Daddy’s Tears”, a poem that actually started out life as a song (with chorus) which was recently set to music by some friends of mine. As with standard poetry, this song has held a strong emotional response for many – the main reason for its inclusion.
A small note on the ‘voice’ of my poetry – I write poetry in all “three” genders: male, female, and gender-neutral. For poems written in the feminine viewpoint, I have previously attributed partial copyright to a fictional character of mine, Aerin Penna Seleratus, as I wrote these poems in-character based off of ‘her’ experiences in the universe of my novels and short stories, often finding that she was so ‘three dimensional’ as a character that I could certainly sympathize with her heartache and, as such, many female readers have as well as far as ‘her’ poetry is concerned.
