Weights and Measures

"Poppycock!" Brandi McLaughlin glowered at Lancing across the round outdoor table and waved her fork at her as she spoke. "That is the biggest bunch of twaddle I've ever heard."

"Doctor, please control yourself before you fling your meal across the plaza," with a raised eyebrow, Deborah Lancing regarded the fork—and the food on it. "Or hit me with it."

"Don't tempt me!" McLaughlin crammed the succulent piece of azure fruit into her mouth. "And don't avoid the issue," she said while chewing, ignoring Lancing pointedly looking away. Communications Officer Matthew Unser had strolled over to admire some brilliant scarlet flowers—no surprise considering his love of botany. Their captain Jaimey West stood nearby, her attention riveted on the sailboats on the bay overlooked by the plaza.
