CHAPTER ONE

Its late, the Staten Island Ferry Building is almost empty. Then people start arriving. There are cabs pulling up and people coming out of the subway. There’s a night chill in the air as it approaches 12 o’clock. The Midnight Ferry arrives. The only thing that is different are the people who get on and where they are going.

John Dee is looking over the side railings of the ferry, drinking a can of beer and smoking a cigar. He sees a very beautiful Chinese girl, who is somehow familiar to him and

thinks what the hell, he walks over to her and introduces himself.

“Hi”
