Dreams Once Held Within

In summer or in early spring when all the birds were singing
I looked across an empty lot to hear the churchbells ringing
People gathered with great hope. I looked down at a note
and closed my eyes and dreamed that I could see you

Standing in a road where all the houses now were missing
and remembering the certain smile you gave when you were kissing
Lips speak many languages but upon meeting other says
to close my eyes and feel that I can see you

Nothing more than images flash for a while within my head but aren't any
more than dreams once held within

My mother used to dress me up for Christmas of Thanksgiving
Now I wonder often how I'm dressed or even where I'm living
Holidays are cold to me and as the wind is blown through me
I close my eyes and think that I can see you

And as the sun drops swellingly, I turn to the moon watching me
close my eyes and dream that I can see you.
