"Graham! Get your fine ass downstairs and into my Cherokee! Now!"
Rejoice Barnes slapped her palms against the bannister to make her point and peered up into the dim upstairs. No sign of her husband. She rolled her eyes and tried again. "Graham Barnes, if you ruin our one chance to get it on constantly for an entire summer without the kids by being late, so help me, I will—"
He appeared at the top of the stairwell, beach-blonde hair still tousled, shirt halfway over his chest, the duffel in his hand unzipped—in no shape to leave the house. But certainly in-shape. She bit her bottom lip and tried to look fierce.
"You'll what, Joi?" Graham said, smiling exactly like he had every time he'd endeavored to charm her in their thirteen years together. "You'll smack my fine ass? Wouldn't that be tragic. Besides, how can being late on one day possibly impact ten whole weeks? Just doesn't make sense."
