The Frederick County Community College theater program consisted of fourteen white people and one Taiwanese girl. So when we decided to do The Doves of Babylon, we knew we'd need to find a black guy. There was no way to make the play work otherwise, but it was great because there were precisely fifteen other parts, with an appropriate mix of genders for us.
