At twenty-two years old, I began to grow restless and desired to see the world. What better way, I thought, than from the air, hunting dragons. I made my way to the island of Tuket in the northeast to seek employment on a dirigible.
I arrived at Tuket on a crisp, clear day in early fall. The airfield was breathtaking. Rows of rigid airships stood in columns upon the moors. Their skins were made of the hide of animals and, for the most part, their superstructures were made of wood. One airship stood out from the rest. Its skin was that of at least three red dragons. The captain must be skilled, indeed, I thought. I decided to go aboard and see if they would have me for their crew.
In the gondola, I found a man dressed in black. He stood behind a chart table of mahogany, edged in dragon bone. He eyed me with a curious stare.
