Chapter 1

Thomas Trill pulled his motorcycle up against the sidewalk and idled as he gazed at the majestic gray stone church at the crest of the next hill.

Over his dead body would anyone tear it down.

He spared the swiftest of glances at Tiffany beside him on her own bike. The set of his wife's jaw, the rigidity in her posture told him she shared his determination. They were there to save St. John's, and they weren't about to fail. It was just a matter of how best to proceed. With their nomadic lifestyle—and they loved roaming—the church was probably the only location in the world that meant something to them. And the people who worked there were among the very few true friends that Thomas and Tiffany had.
