Solid crystals of snow, like white sand, blew lazily across the highway surface creating intricate swirls, destroyed in the instant after creation. The dark night was repelled by the reflection of the street lamps off of the slowly shifting drifts. The low hanging clouds captured the lights of the city creating a dull orange glow that permeated the night sky, creating an eerie day of the night. A single car traveled down this highway, crushing the delicate formations beneath it's treads. Snow peeled off from the roof of the car as it sped down the road giving, the illusion of smoke pouring from the vehicle's rear.

The driver, hunkered down behind the wheel, struggled with the car’s heater, pleading with it to start working and provide him a respite from the cold. He adjusted the heater from off to on several times hoping that his attempt to siphon some heat from the car would not be in vain.
