Amanda Remy leaned her head against the window of the MARTA train to watch Cabbagetown and Sweet Auburn drifting by. Sometimes, she liked to pretend that she was really a liaison to an alien ambassador, giving a tour of the city and explaining the history, architecture, and social customs of Earth. “Next, we will be passing Georgia State University on the right. Universities are centers of learning, where people go to get advanced schooling in fields they are interested in pursuing later in life.”
Too bad there weren’t really any jobs available for xenoanthropologists. Or anthropologists, for that matter, at least not with just a bachelor’s degree. No money for graduate school. She sighed and turned her attention away from the window back to the novel she had momentarily abandoned. Starship Byzantium.
