Looking for my Betrothed

In Medieval times life was so different. Most Nobles wanted a male heir to leave their wealth to. What happened when a nobleman had all daughters? They started making marital contracts at an early age. Not all men made it due to deaths before they could collect their betrothed. This meant the male in the family was responsible for finding another marital contract. The ladies either married and if not possible were sent to convents to become nuns. To Sir Gordon his heirs were female, a total of six beautiful daughters. Five of his daughters had found their betroths and married. The dowry of each did not break him as he was a wealthy merchant. What was a dowry? It was the gift the father presented to the groom at marriage for giving his daughters a home and protected his daughter. The betrothed usually honored the contracts between the ages of twelve on up. That in todays terms would be hard as the girls were barely more than a child. Their duties to their betrothed was to provide him a male heir so he could pass on his legacy. As you could look at it in todays comparison would be misunderstood as this were the normal culture in their time. Sir Gordon had one more daughter to get married. He decided that he would have greet and meet formal ball in the hopes of helping her find a betrothed. With her age of twenty four she had a chance for her body to developed so birthing should be no problem with her baring an heir to her betrothed. Bethany was a beautiful woman. She had long black hair that at certain times had highlights, soft and silky. She stood about five feet six inches. Her breast was voluptuous and a slim waist She wore a white gown of silk which hugged her body like a second skin leaving nothing to the imagination. She did not sit often as she seemed like everyone wanted to get to know her by dancing with so many men. Her dress was made low upon her breast that she shined out. Her father had hoped that she would be betrothed to a young man instead of one of the older ones.
