CHAPTER 1

EARTHQUAKE REGIONS

Earthquakes 4.5 and higher follow a certain pattern. Take the earth and divide it into 18 wedges from the North Pole. The two wedges opposite of each other make up one region. It is based on the longitude lines of the planet. For example everything from longitude 130 to 150 is considered on region, included in that region is everything that is on the opposite of the planet, that is longitude -50 to -30. (Picture a rubber band around the earth, going through the poles)
