Chad Hilton dumped the food he wanted to buy onto the checkout lane in Wal-Mart. He wiped the sweat from his brow and watched as the girl behind the till scanned his purchases.

“Thirty-two dollars and nineteen cents please,” She said as she bagged the last item. Chad flashed his debit card and she hit a button on the till, “Go ahead and swipe when you’re ready.”

As he waited for the transaction to go through, Chad studied the girl. Her black hair was a nice length, just reaching her shoulders. She had dark blue eyes that looked serious. If he didn’t know better, he’d think she was scared of him or something. The girl reminded him of someone, but he couldn’t figure out who it was.

“Thank you, Jennifer,” Chad said, checking her nametag as he took the receipt. Jennifer looked surprised at first, but merely nodded and said he was welcome. Walking away, Chad racked his brain trying to think who it was that she reminded him so much of.

Alison breathed a deep sigh of relief as Chad Hilton, her former boss, walked away. She had been terrified that he would recognize, and if he did, would arrest her on the spot. Alison was an ex-FBI: BAU agent, Chad Hilton was the team superintendent. She had quit her job when a serial killer, Keith Smith, had been allowed to walk free simply because of a connection to the FBI.
