"I have decided," Ryfelgar said, "to remove you from command."

Absolute silence fell. Every man -- there were twenty of them -- along the rough-hewn trestle tables turned to stare at Ryfelgar, and then at Furon.

The lone woman didn't. Argel knew Ryfelgar, she knew what he expected of her, she'd got used to the way he set up this kind of situation. So she sat still and silent as the rest, let her gaze drift over each face in turn, and surreptitiously flicked the peace-hook off the hilt of her sword.
