The last stroll

A big fat breakfast and I was ready for a stroll. It was wonderful to hear the birds chirping and calling out to each other. Wish I could fly around like them and move to places that were just imagined. They seemed oblivious to all that was below and my admiration of them.

The jungle and I loved and respected each other, for we knew the extent of the influence each had over the other. It was curious that the jungle had dwindled over the last many seasons and the rains had seemed so much annoyed at the happenings on this planet, that they denied its occupants the luxury of predicting their arrival. They seemed happier to come and go as they pleased, if they pleased. Not that I had a say in these matters but it still struck me as ominous.
