First light was soft, like fur brushing over my face. I opened my eyes to it and blinked, looked out for a second at the sun-brushed clouds and the rain-spattered windows, then shifted and went back to sleep. Too early for poetry.
When I woke again it was nearly eleven, and the sun was high enough that the ceiling got in the way and I could do the rest of my stretching and groaning in peace. My limbs all felt sore, but that would pass. I had better things to focus on.
I lay back down and slipped an arm under my bedmate's chest, rolling her into my embrace. Her eyes flickered a bit with confusion. Consciousness hadn't quite established itself yet. But I set to work rubbing over her bare chest, and she opened her eyes fully for a moment, then closed them again and smiled a full smile that made me join in without a second thought. Her rumbling sound of satisfaction was something I could feel in my bones.
"Are you always this sweet?" She lay there, motionless, smiling, black tattoo lines shifting a bit as she did it. I loved that.
"No. You deserve it, though." It was the truth. I'd had a lot of one-night-stands, and they didn't usually end like this. Hell, I couldn't remember the last time something even close to this had happened. Didn't stop me from enjoying it, though.
