Vegas is a magical town.

Unfortunately, I wasn't seeing it at its best. I was in town for a convention, nothing amazing, and I didn't know anyone there. There are all kinds of things to do there but by that third day I was about ready to just call it off and head home. I left the convention early that day, complaining of stomach problems when the leader of my group asked if I was going to be joining everyone for dinner. We’d all been assigned to groups on the first day, probably in an effort to force us to socialize, and mine wasn’t the best.

Television was crap and I hadn't brought a book along, so I wound up drifting down to one of the hotel bars in the afternoon. It wasn't one of the big hotels on the strip, so the bar was almost empty when I got there. A bored bartender gave me a beer and I sat watching the same crap television available in my room. About an hour into the game I was ready to go, but just as I stood the bartender slid a dark drink in front of me. "From the lady," he said, nodding at someone in the corner.
