What Choice But Fate?

In the midst of a dale,

Not far from a person's home,

Sat a spring robin,

Resting and telling the world

To cheer-up, cheer-up.

Sadly, a house cat,

Little less than plump,

Seized that cheery bird,

Did what it need not have done,

And left feathers where a life had been.
