There was no sound in the forest.
It was silent.
Not even the chirping of frogs could be heard. Not the hoot of an owl. Silence.
Where was life? It all seemed so dead, so dark, so inhuman. Why was she here?
“There was nowhere else to go,” she thought. “I had no choice.”
Rebekah sat down under a huge oak tree, her head in her hands. Her thoughts were as dark as the night.
“Please God,” she pleaded. “Help me!”
But there was no answer anywhere in that cold, dark woods. Silence was all she heard.
So Rebekah decided to make her own noise. To change everything. She began to yell. To shriek. To scream as loud as she could any words that came to her.
“WA-A-A-A-A-A,” she shouted to the cold, dark sky. “WOO-OO-OO-OOOOOOOOO.”
“ABBA ABBA ABBA ABBA OOOOOOOOM!” sounded through the forest.
Rebekah tipped back her head and howled like a wolf. “AWOOOOOOO.”
She kept this up for as long as she could. The more noise she made, the better she felt. It was like an exorcism, pushing all the darkness out of her.
