I’m a pretty happy camper most of the time. I tell people I work in construction. Actually, I’m an engineering consultant. I solve really complicated problems for contractors when they’ve already tried everything they can think of and consulted others but haven’t been able to solve their problem. They pay me a lot of money to help them so I live pretty well, but this story isn’t about what I do in my work life. That would bore most folks to tears.
This story is about what I do on my own time, which I think is a lot more interesting, and I know it’s a lot more fun. I think it’s a lot more interesting for other people too. I have an unusual life style. My work is very erratic ranging from week long frantic round the clock stretches of intense effort, to weeks at a time when nothing at all is going on and I sit around the pool with my daughter and my granddaughters or entertain my daughter’s mother in law and her daughters. My family life style would shock most people if they knew all about it, but not many people know anything about it, and all of those who know anything about it are part of my family so they’re all either willing participants or too young to know what’s going on.
