"What is the verdict?" Harodniev asked, his crisp Russian accent punctuating each word like a drumbeat.

Weintraub stared at the computer simulation of events unfolding miles beneath them. "It opened," he said after a moment then leaned back, his considerable bulk eliciting a loud squeak of protest from his chair. "It only stayed open a nanosecond but it opened. That's three times in a row. We've done it, thank God."
