Interview with A.C. Harrah

Published 2014-03-12.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
That can of Dr. Pepper I have been saving in the back of the fridge for two weeks now.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, and I shudder at the memory. Oh, the poor characterization. The info dumps. The forced romances and contrived plot. Oh, Dr. Frankenstein, I know your pain. Although, my monster can't kill me. ...I think.
Describe your desk
A cluttered, fire hazard, that will probably collapse on me one day during an earthquake and kill me. At least I will have a pen and paper nearby to write down the name of the grocer who keeps giving me the stink eye at the store, thereby pinning my demise on said grocer as movie, TV show, book, and video game logic dictates.
How important do you think villains are in a story?
Depends what they are doing. If they are just trying to get the protagonist to drink expired milk, then not so much. Unless…maybe the protagonist is lactose-intolerant! Le gasp! The fiend!
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I’m hoping in a soft bed with comfy blankets. Hopefully, I will not be suffering a bout of insomnia, but if I am there’s a fifty-percent chance I am at least being productive.
