Interview with A.J. Jones

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Knowing that I'm following one of the many dreams I have. I want to show my children that with hard work they can follow their dreams and make them reality.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I like to venture in the many avenues of creativity. Mainly, I crochet, cook, or try to find time to read a book.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I just search in my favorite genres. Or, I have friends recommend authors they like.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
It was a short story. I was in eighth grade. A thriller. I wish I would've kept it.
What is your writing process?
I do everything backwards. I write the end first. I write the story before the research and the outline. I try to remember all my grammar rules.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Word of mouth, Facebook, Twitter
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Both my parents were in the Army. I had the great pleasure of traveling to places and seeing things that helped spark my writing. I am also fortunate to have traveled to multiple states in the U.S.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I love reading myths and legends. Especially about African culture and Egyptian culture. As a child when I went to the library I didn't see a lot of myths and legends about African or Egyptian culture. Unless it was about Anasi the spider. As I grew older, I wanted to write a story I would want to read.
I wanted to write a shape shifter series, but I didn't want to work with werewolves or any other animal. As I was doing research, I came across the Nubian lion god, Apedemak. From then on Lion Blood was born.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I wanted to write a story I would read. I wanted to make one of my dreams to come true.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing for me is having another creative outlet. I can make my own world full of wonderful characters.
What are you working on next?
I'm currently working on the next book in the series. I'm trying to stop obsessing over my first book, so I can get the second one done:)

Since ancient times they have walked amongst us. Feared and loved like the gods of old until man's love turned to hate. They remained myths and legends by hiding in plain sight. They are a race of lion shifters. They are the Lion Blood.
