Interview with Dawn Rolland

What's the story behind your latest book?
I had presumed the letters Alphaeus wrote from Spain were lost forever. Locating them was one of my greatest genealogical finds. He was now more than just a name on the family tree, through the letters he became a real person and I got to know him. I didn’t know much about the Spanish Civil War, I got an unexpected history lesson.
What are you working on next?
I’m fascinated with my Prowell Family line. I have 2 more books on the family coming out this year that documents my research.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
In researching my family’s history I discovered ancestors who lived extraordinary lives. I didn’t want their stories to be forgotten.
How do you approach cover design?
It’s about having a strong cover image, which tells the story. I like when book covers have some type of symbolism that’s connected to the contents of the book.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
