Interview with Terry W Parsons

What's the story behind your latest book?
A 30 year teaching and administrative career within both private and state universities--and as an observant and concerned 20 year retiree--forced me to conclude me that there are many (TOO many) floundering, flustrated though promising young people spinning and groping for answers as "they get ready to get ready". Thus the attempt by our college professor daughter Dr. Jennifer Parsons and yours truly to produce a 'lifeline" text for the 18-35 year old generation. Our goal was to enhance readability by formulating ten topic succinct chapters with ten points per topic. Once completed we find ourselves thinking a deeply concerned parent or grandparent may judge this book to be a valued gift for helping their favorite young adult successfully grapple with an ever more complex world.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
We simply are striving to find a means for mass contact with the countless young adults who are grasping for personal advice and career direction; if but ONE positive change results from reading "Life is Good, Once You know How" we are humbled and gratified.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Ideally, hoping to change lives. There can be no greater sense of accomplishment than reaching out to aid those struggling to cope and to succeed. Frequently only a friendly though firm "touch" does wonders for a young person.
What impact do you anticipate for your readers?
We foster no illusions that all points as proffered will be amenable to all readers, but carry sincere hopes that all readers will find some key points for immediate applicability. If somehow able to reach all readers with even ONE "real" tip for survival and another suggested action for genuine prospering, we will be thrilled.
How lengthy was the actual writing process?
I am somewhat embarrassed to note that the composition of a first draft required all of...four weeks. Once under way the pent -up urge to share information spewed forth in that we sincerely wished to offer the discouraged and disillusioned young adult a ready-to-read "lifeline".
