Interview with Abdul Sami

What do you read for pleasure?
I don't read much. I prefer thinking.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I think posting on a social website was very beneficial, especially twitter.
You live in Pakistan. But your poetry was in English. What is the reason behind this?
English is an international language which is widely spoken and understood everywhere. I wanted my book to reach a much wider number of readers. That's why I chose English as the language of my book.
When did you first start writing?
In 2013. When I was 14 years old
What's the theme of your poems?
They are based on misery, pain, death and the darkness prevailing in the human society. I wish to change the human thinking. I know it's not possible but it is worth trying. At least I can convey my message to my readers and they might learn something from it.
What motivated you to become an author?
No one motivated me and when I first told my friends that I will release an ebook, they did not take it seriously. All I wanted was to change the way of thinking of humans and that made me write my poems.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
The style guide was very useful in formatting the book and through that I was able to publish my book without any vetter errors.
What do your fans mean to you?
I don't need fans. I think the word "fan" is an insult for anyone. I want equality. My readers will not be fans. They are my freinds.
What are you working on next?
I will be working on poetry but will also add a short story next time.Themes will remain the same.
Why did you make your book free?
Because it was my first release and I wanted more people to read my book and learn from it.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I am still a student. I am doing G.C.E O Levels. When I am not writing I am either studying or thinking. I love thinking.

The Pseudoman continues to raze the foundations laid down by our ancestors. His greed and self-contempt are corrupting the true essence of humanity. War, pain, loss and futile quarrels have become our absolute fate. Will we ever wake up? Or will we all volunteer to be a casualty of this self-constructed catastrophe?

The weaknesses and faults of humanity are exposed. Hearts have grown weak. The human design has decayed. No one speaks for the wretched and the broken. In this world, people think about their lives and do not care about anyone else. They will let others die for their own benefit. The poems in this book criticise all of these human acts. Brace yourselves for a sad and depressing journey.
