Interview with Adonia Yaniso

What do you read for pleasure?
Various magazines, newspapers and novels.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
An android phone
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Chegutu and Gokwe, Zimbabwe. Rural life may appear dull to many people, but it caused me to be inquisitive about my surroundings. I guess this is what has caused me to be inquisitive about what I come across in mathematics.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing in the 1990s, but did not publish anything. As for mathematics I have written more than the current publication, and am now considering making another publication in mathematics. I have also written in a completely different genre, but did not publish either. With the easier e-publishing that is available from Smashwords I am now reconsidering.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
There was no special motivation other than that I was having problems trying to publish the traditional way. My brother, Tofara, being a lover of technology, pushed me to take the indie route.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing is really a great joy. For me the joy comes from being able to share my ideas with others out there. Knowing that people can be innovative, I foresee my readers taking my ideas to heights that are beyond what I could have imagined.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are an inspiration. Interaction with them inspires me even more, because it's not a one way engagement.
What are you working on next?
I have more maths formulas, tricks and ideas.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I am a teacher who wakes up hoping that my class understands something new by the end of the day.
How do you approach cover design?
I am not very artistic - and so I confess to having no clear approach!
