Interview with Allegra Johnson

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Coffee and the wonder of what kind of trouble I can instigate.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Sleeping. I am always writing.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small New England town, my characters tend to be New Englanders, this is fun during editing. We have a whole other language (or so it seems) than the rest of the U.S.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I was 7 years old. My story was about a Princess that lived in a purple castle and the turrets were cover with glitter. One day she was kidnapped by an evil Prince. However, the Princess outsmarted the Prince and escaped. There were badly drawn pictures as well.
What is your writing process?
I try to plot... That has not ended well thus far. I believe the other authors call me a plantser.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
It was a Little Golden Book, either The Little Engine That Could or God Loves Me. Kindergarten was a long time ago the details are fuzzy. I know I received the Best Reader award at the end of the year!
What do you read for pleasure?
Romance mostly, but I read pretty much anything. I do favor historical in any genre.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Once upon a time I was reading a lovely historical romance series, only to have the author publish an ebook only "2.5" book in the series. So, there I was trying to figure how to get that kindle app thingy.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I use the Kindle app on my tablet.
Describe your desk
A roll top desk that has a stack of story notes for all the stories on the story-go-round on one side, and my Chromebook in the middle. I have these neat little cubbies that hold my index cards, sticky notes, stapler and other desk like things. There is an assortment of knickknacks in the cubbies as well... It's really cute, when it doesn't resemble a hurricanes aftermath.
