Interview with Andrew Huddleston

When did you first start writing?
I found my earliest piece of work in a seventh grade notebook. But I've always spent a lot of time day dreaming.
Describe your desk
Very bare. I don't really use my desk often, I work in bed. But when I do its mostly the novel I'm editing or a random piece of paper I'm learning how to draw on. Or some take-out I'm eating.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My phone. I had the Kindle app. I like to read on the go. But if I'm at home I use my tablet to read.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
My Facebook connected to my Twitter. Joining a lot of Goodreads groups to connect with other writers has helped.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My first novel is about a girl, Angelic Pierce, a privileged young woman who wants to get away from her controlling father and alcoholic mother, who falls in love with Christohpe Vanderhoff, a drug addicted drifter who is running from his torturous past. Together they conquer their fears and learn to move forward with their lives.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I just love to be in complete control of every aspect of the industry.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Just getting to put the stories in my head out on paper. Even if no one reads it I know that it's out there for someone.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. They continue to help me grow. Give me great advice and tell me the truth about my writing.
What are you working on next?
A lesbian love story set in Hawaii between a worker and her employer.
Kakei, or Kasey in California, is an author who also co-owns a small chain or resort and hotels with her father. After a terrible incident that also leads her in the care of her three year old son, she returns home to Hawaii to work and relax away from the press.
Sabrina is a recent graduate of the University of Hawaii. She works at the Kalakolayko resorts.
After a night of partying she finds out that the girl she hit it off with the night before is also her new boss.
They try to remain professional but they can't help the way they are feeling.
Lots of drama and love.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend a lot of time with my partner and my nephews and niece. Family is a huge part of my life and I cherish it greatly. I also have a pet cat named Spanky. But he and I usually curl up with a good ebook in bed and hang out.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Goodreads. I go on everyday and check out what other authors are reading. If it sounds interesting I'd purchase it. I also go to Barnes and Noble a lot.
