Interview with Alyssa Scheidemann

Published 2014-06-23.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I just love to write and share my stories and poetry with the world. Writing makes me happy. I enjoy inspiring others with my writing and inspiring them to write or do what makes them happy. When I inspire others, then that makes me ecstatic I can make a difference in their life.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing for me is to inspire others.
What are you working on next?
My current projects I'm working on are multiple writing projects. I am currently working on a children's book for children around 4-6 year old, the second book of my children's book series, 'The Allegra Series' (which the first book is already out in print; the eBook is coming soon), and a young adult / adult adventure/fantasy fiction novel.
Who are your favorite authors?
My top three favorite authors, in order beginning with number one, are J.K. Rowling, Christopher Paolini, and Stephanie Meyer. Closely followed by those is J.R.R. Tolkien.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Being able to be blessed with another beautiful day to do what I love and to make an impact in the world.
Who are your favorite poets?
My top favorite poets include Robert Frost, Ernest T. Scheidemann (my late great grandfather), and Shel Silverstein.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
When I am recommended to read a certain book, sometimes I prefer to get the eBook copy.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. I was maybe around 7 years old, and one of the first stories I wrote was about one of my beanie babies. I made a copyright page and everything.
What is your writing process?
I just write what comes to me, then I edit, and edit some more. I edit and write and rewrite until I feel it's complete.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When I'm not writing, I spend my time reading, hanging out at the beach, boating, playing tennis, baking, traveling, and doing yoga/working out at the gym. I also spend time hanging out with family and friends.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I think one of the first stories I ever read was a Dr. Suess book. I remember enjoying reading and the words so much because I was able to use my imagination when I read that it took me on adventures. It impacted me by inspiring me to write my own stories and adventures/journeys. I still feel that way now, even when I read novels by other authors, including my favorites.
