Interview with Amanda Rose

Published 2018-11-06.
What do you read for pleasure?
I love Historical Japanese Fiction. James Clavell's Asian Saga is my favorite series.
Describe your desk
My mother gave me this beautiful Cherry Wood desk which she had as a child, growing up in Europe. I treasure it.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Kingston Ontario. It's a mid-sized city with a rich history, but as a kid it felt a bit boring. I pent much of my childhood playing video games and reading, and those marvelous adventures inspired my own imagination which has led to my books.
When did you first start writing?
I was always a writer. Right from the beginning when I learned to write in school I was creating stories. I competed in literary competitions all throughout school, and wrote my first novel when I was 16.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I'm a big believer in entrepreneurship. In 2013 I left my conventional job to start a home business, and I've never looked back. I'm the driving force behind my books and I have the passion to do whatever it takes to get them read.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Discovery. I love uncovering new facets of a character, or getting inspired by a new idea for the plot. If I'm suprised and exited my readers will be too.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything! What's the point of storytelling if no one ever reads it? Sharing the story, discussing it, that's so much fun!
What are you working on next?
The sequel to Fire Fury Freedom. It's A-W-E-S-O-M-E.
Who are your favorite authors?
James Clavell, Jen Sincero, Rhonda Byrne, James S. A. Corey.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
To work on my books!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Playing video games with my husband, spending time with my cats, reading, and weight training.
