Interview with Andrew Mather

Published 2014-01-27.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing at 25, I am now 30.
I just couldn't stop writing with pen and paper, my write hand was numb!
I never did anything with my writing until now, I feel now is a good time to start.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy has to be the excitement of new ideas coming into my head, thinking about them and building them up before I even touch a pen or keyboard. These moments inspire me, goose pimples all over my face, its a great feeling.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes I do, its probably the biggest story that I have in my mind.
I will save it for a rainy day.
What is your writing process?
I think it would be to let the idea come to me naturally, my brain would sort it out while I work.
Sometimes its best when I drive, Just cruising along, relaxing moments like these seem to help the idea process for me.
How do you approach cover design?
Still looking for an artist.....
Any free ones out there?
Describe your desk
My desk is a mess.
That's all I will say.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Actually, If I'm honest, my childhood didn't have any books involved, I didn't read or write, not until I was 25.
I didn't even pass my English exam at school.
