Interview with Anna Mae Red Rose Johnson

When did you first start writing?
In 2015, God called me to write my first book.
What's the story behind your latest book or series of books?
The "God, Please Send Me a Prom Date" series brings healing to others through the characters in the story. The books are written in a way that makes the reader feel as if they are a part of the story.
What motivated you to become a published author?
There was a time when I was feeling down in my spirit and in pain. I prayed to God and asked Him to help me draw images. My stories came from those drawings. God gave me the words to put down on paper. On my birthday (in 2015), He blessed me to publish my first book. You see, I told God I was going to take my mind off the pain, put my trust in HIM, and get into His Word.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy comes from after someone has finished reading my book and calls me on the phone to tell me how my book blessed them and how they can relate to certain characters in the book.
What do your fans / followers mean to you?
Knowing that they learn how to trust in God more and to know that He will always be there for them because He loves them and will never lie.
What are you working on next?
Currently, I am working on publishing the third book in the "God, Please Send Me a Prom Date" series.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Joyce Meyer and TD Jakes.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Knowing that I am blessed to open up my eyes to see another day, to give God all the praise, and to be able to tell everyone who I run into about the love of MY Jesus. I enjoy sharing with others how He has blessed me in so many ways.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your "free" time?
I do work for my Lord. I am an usher in the church. I hold open the door, waiting for God's children to come into His house of praise. I let them know it is good to be in the presence of our Lord!
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote? If so, what was it titled and what was it about?
The story was "God's Blessing". It was about how God gave me instructions on how to make this pretty angel. It was an opportunity for me to share how He blessed me to make her out of masking tape. People were blessed.
What is your writing process?
It's always been about God leading me to write. I write about what the Lord has done in my life and encourage others to trust Him!
Do you remember the first story you ever read? If so, what impact did it have on who you are today as an author?
I know it was Paul Young's novel "The Shack". His story got met started in a relationship with the Lord. It pushed me to seek an unconditional love and relationship with God. I saw the work of God in that novel.
Describe your desk or preferred writing environment.
I like writing in a quiet place all alone with my pen, pieces of paper, and a cup of tea.
Do you prefer eBooks or print? Why?
I prefer print because you can put your feet up and enjoy!
How would you describe your individual writing style?
My personal writing style is about my life and how the characters bring life and healing for the person reading the story. The reader oftentimes compares the story to what happened to him or her in the past.
