Interview with A.C. Riggan

What do your fans mean to you?
I like to think of my fans as friends who I have not yet met in person. If someone appreciates my work, then we must be similar on one level or another. I hope to entertain my fans, cause them to laugh, and prompt them to think. Any words of encouragement from them are deeply felt. If you think about when you're looking up at the moon on a clear night, you know that there are many other people somewhere in the world who are doing the same thing, experiencing the same wonder. I imagine my fans in the same way.
What are you working on next?
Another silly, rib-tickler. This time, it's about a family that, because of its tremendous character flaw, brings about the destruction of an entire town. I can't give too much away, but there'll be plenty of bizarre occurrences, and characters making fools of themselves.
Who are your favorite authors?
I studied serious classics in London, and am still drawn to them: Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Shakespeare, Thomas Hardy, Julio Cortazar, San Juan de la Cruz, Moliere, Keats, The Bronte Sisters etc etc. I hope one day to emulate one millionth of a percent of their talent.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Being alive is a blessing, a gift. So much can be accomplished in a day, or very little. It's a choice. What excites me is stealing time enough to start a project, work hard, and see it finished. It's like putting a stake in the ground, becoming unstoppable.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I have a big family, so writing is almost a luxury. However, I get uplifted by gardening, walking, and socializing. Travel is also my thing, whenever I can. It makes me feel new and fully conscious.
