Interview with Anthea Van Der Pluym

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I trust life! it sounds strange to say this after having experienced violence, but I draw deeply on my own inspiration and that of my friends and family. I feel that life is good, I I'm glad to be alive and share my life with others!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
All over South Africa - literally!. My parents moved a lot for work, and I went to many different schools as a child.

I learnt that change is a fact of life and best handled with a sense of adventure.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Trauma - writing was firstly cathartic for me. it is a place where I make sense of the world an rearrange it to suit me. Now, its leadership, I believe that it is time to educate women on what is possible in their worlds and support them in reaching for the stars.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Creative expression. I love finding the words that allow me to transfer my thoughts to another person, and to reach out and touch them emotionally, not matter where they are in the world.
What are your four favorite books, and why?
The Biology of Belief - Dr Bruce Lipkin
The Divine Matrix - Gregg Braden
The Vein of Gold - Julia Cameron
Tribe - Seth Godin
Anything by Ralph Waldo Emerson or Thoreau.

I like looking for deep answers to deep questions - the questions of life and death, and our creative expression in determining our way in this world. I have found a lot of value in each of these authors' perspectives of life.
What do you read for pleasure?
A good thriller or a romance - I love lighthearted escapism and curling up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
A kobo.
