Interview with Anurag Sharma

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up In Bathinda, the beautiful city in Punjab. The era of early 90s can mesmerize anybody with no mobile phones, no cartoon channels and the fragrance of earth when rain fall on it, its what we can't find today. My Grandpa was my best friend, his teachings did influence my work.
When did you first start writing?
When i was 14, I wrote my first poem, The life.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Destiny. Few things are certainly not in our hands, Its the fight against the odds. We all go through situations where we dont know how to survive but this is what differentiates men from boys. Life is not about cribbing, its about taking the bull by its horns and adapting to the situations rather than crying in those situations.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
My family.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It certainly gives you a platform where you can publish what you want. Running behind publishers is never an easy task but e publishing through Smashwords means you just have to focus on your writing.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Playing with the words.
What do your fans mean to you?
You write to be read. So they mean a lot.
What are you working on next?
A sequel to this one and another two projects.
Who are your favorite authors?
Any person who writes is unique and needs to respected and adored. I respect every author but my favorite inclue Khaleed Housaini and Amitav Ghosh.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The feeling of being lively.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Noticing people around me.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Through smashwords.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I wrote a poem called THE LIFE. its still special to me. The first short story which I wrote was "The Letter that never reached its address" and this too is very close to me.
What is your writing process?
Depends on mood.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Story is a life written on a canvas. Every story I read I can remember.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Every book I read is my favorite like Chanakya Chants, Thousand splendid suns, The Kite runner, The krishna Key... the list is endless.

Will have to learn about it.
