Interview with Alexander Osgood

Published 2016-09-07.
Who are your favorite authors?
Michael Chrighton was one of my favorites, sphere is my favorite of his books. I believe I've read it three times.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My grandparents, honestly, they're the only reason I still find a way to get up each morning. I owe my grandfather a lot of money for college...
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Mostly at school or at work, I don't have much free time between the three.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Mostly through writers on Tumblr and Wattpad, there's a lot of... Interesting reading there.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
God, yes, I'm still working on it. 15 years in the making.
What is your writing process?
I have an idea at 5am and cry as I try and write the basic plot down before I forget, then I work on it until I lose my train of thought and work on another story.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes, it was the Monsters Ring, it really made me want to write a story just like it but, thankfully, that never happened. I wanted to be as original as possible.
How do you approach cover design?
I take a photo that resembles a scene in the book and edit it or have a friend edit it for me.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Easy, Sphere, It, the monsters ring, a few adult stories on the web I can't mention here, and the pale blue dot.
As for why... They're all just great.
What do you read for pleasure?
... was that a pun? Naughty.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My iPad, unfortunately it's also my writing device.
