Interview with Nicole

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When i'm not writing, I spend my time doing everything I possibly can (my parents and friends will attest to this). I enjoy trying new things and love spending time with my friends and family. The nice thing about always looking for new things to try out is that I get some pretty creative ideas from my experiences, that influence my writing and provide me with some out-of-the-box ideas that I may have never thought of before.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Actually.. no. o.o
I say this because I was going through some of my older work and I've found stories I wrote in around 1st grade and to this day I randomly keep finding more of my writing from even earlier than that.
What is your writing process?
My English teacher has told me that I am a "finisher", someone who sits down and just writes, but if they get hung up on a sentence they can't go on. Advantages to this style is that you pretty much have a finished product by the time you're done. I agree with her on that diagnosis. My best friend's remedy to writer's block is putting said current writing down and starting an entirely different piece. I admit, I have started to pick this habit up as well; only because it works so well it's addicting.

Me and my best friend are night owls, so most of our best work is written at around 3 in the morning. Yup.. I'm the student that starts writing their research paper the night before it's due at about 1 am.. It's surprisingly very effective for me, but I wouldn't recommend it.
How do you approach cover design?
Cover design. You know I've always wanted to be a model.. :o
Truth be told, I haven't tackled the task of designing a cover for one of my works yet. My best friend and I have talked about it but not really in detail. It's one of those things that the saying "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it" covers perfectly.
I also have zero skill with drawing, and all of that jazz; my art is photography, performing arts, and music. My best friend is an awesome artist so she would probably draw all of her covers. :)
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I don't really have a favorite book.. There are just too many good books to chose from. :o
What do you read for pleasure?
My favorite genre is romance adventure (I have never read the Twilight series though.. I cheated and skipped to the movies). It's a sin, I know o.o My best friend told me the books are way better than the movies..
Describe your desk.
Messy. And full of ideas :o
The best kind :)
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing for me is extremely relaxing. My writing contains my feelings, my experiences, my life, and my creativity. It's my stress reliever and my friend, it just comes naturally to me I guess.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
LOL... This is going to sound like i'm an addict, but my schedule :o
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I am currently growing up in the gorgeous Spring Green Area. Living on top of a hill in virtually the middle of nowhere has really helped me respect and cherish nature, my neighbors, my friends, my family, my community, and life in general. This influence is most evident in my descriptions of my characters' world(s).
