Interview with Cicero

When did you first start writing?
I started writing when I was seven. I recorded my first book on audio cassette. I was really proud. I really started writing in college. I found it helped to strengthen my imagination, and visualization, which helped in my engineering courses, as well as my athletic training.

What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book (Atlantis 2017) is intended as cautionary tale, regarding the desire most of us have to avoid pain at all costs: The pain of losing our money, a job, a significant other... -- all these things cause us to make choices in our daily life. For example, a desire to avoid emotional pain contributes a great deal to the pharmaceutical\drug culture. A desire to avoid (economic) pain causes us to vote people in high places in government; people perhaps not of the highest moral calibre. They do help us to keep our money and/or our jobs, etc...but there is an unseen cost to this. In my book I make this evident.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the USA, Northeast. And how did this influence my writing? I'm not sure. When I write, I like to take risks and explore content few have touched on before. This usually excludes me from the major markets, as long as its original and of good quality. There's lot of tech where I live and they're always doing new research. This may be why I try to create content which is ground-breaking and original.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
What motivated you to become an indie author? Mostly the subject matter of my books. I can write (to an extent) on the subject-matter that i want, in a manner I want.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has given an outlet to writers delving in riskier content.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I just enjoy using my imagination on a daily basis, as well as inventing new writing techniques and methods, which come slower.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans are very important. We all vote with our hard-earned dollars. We vote the material we want to see more of.
What are you working on next?
Next I am working on a full novel. It is yet unnamed; I'm hoping it will be controversial.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The desire to write original.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
With loving family.
