Interview with Twila James

Published 2014-06-12.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Queens, New York City. It was slightly more suburban with big houses and actual backyards. You could say it influenced my writing because I grew up next door to my best friend, which shows up a lot in my writing.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing around 11 or so, it wasn't all that great but I'm still learning and growing.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Hmm...well, I wanted to try my hand on a new spin on the classic Beauty & the Beast...it's nothing like you'd expect it to be.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I didn't want people changing my books. They're my babies!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Going back and reading my books later. I'm always surprised!
What do your fans mean to you?
They mean a lot because they keep me going...they're my motivation and encouragement.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Hmm...quite a few things actually. I like the idea of a new day, don't you?
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading...social media, that sort of thing. I'm still young, can you blame me?!
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
iTunes!
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Umm..I do but I can't recall the name of it, I just know that it was horrible, but the talent was there for an 11 year old!
