Interview with Austinography

What's the story behind your latest book?
Is there poetry in life, or a life in poetry? I’ve always wondered. Either way, I feel it’s true. Every moment of our life is a poem — sometimes it’s laced with romance, sometimes just a matter of chance. Sometimes it’s all fun; sometimes we don’t know what needs to be done.

In each of the fourteen poems presented in this book, you will witness a life of different colours and flavours. It’s just like life is — that is, for all of us, innocent, quixotic, emotional, inspirational, funny, and uncanny.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The time required to follow-up with established publishers is enormous. I thought it would be a good idea to publish on your own, which is surprisingly quick and easy, and then utilise the remaining time to write another book! What do you think? Isn't it better this way?
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Best way to begin is through your network. Subsequently, you can push boundaries. And yes - if your product is good, word of mouth can do wonders.
How do you approach cover design?
It has to be a professionally designed cover - no second thoughts about it!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
To me, it does not matter where you grow up. I have been a good observer - of common people and their uncommon lives. I try to weave those observations into my writing.
When did you first start writing?
Ever since I learnt how to hold a pencil - it was then followed by pen, typewriter and now computer!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
To see new shades of life!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
By thinking on what I'm going to write next!
What are you working on next?
A collection of short stories is next on cards. I'm also working on some screenplays for feature films, short films and TV.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Undoubtedly, pretty much! It took me no time to create an account and upload the book. Everything was so easy and quick. The watery film that rolled in front of my eyeballs after few minutes indicated that my dream has come to life! Thank you Smashwords.
