Interview with K. K Weakley

Published 2014-12-03.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Walking my dog, reading or just spending some quality family time.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I watch for what others are talking about. I read reviews and decide then if it is for me.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, the first story I ever wrote was a Play called Brotherhood of the Celts.
What is your writing process?
I write the last line of every book I write before I begin. I decide who dies, who falls in love, who is a bitch and who is going to break my heart before the first chapter is even started.
How do you approach cover design?
I imagine what my characters look like, then I decide which character I want to show people as the face of the story.
Describe your desk
Messy.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Wexford, Ireland where we played in the ruins of old abbeys and castles. It influenced my Daughter of Arella Trilogy.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
When it is finished and you get to hold the finished book in your hands and smell it. People always question me when I say 'smell it' but like my follow writers I am sure they know what I am talking about.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything :) I love when someone contacts me to ask about how a story is coming along, or to complain that I killed off their favorite character lol. Without those fans, who do we write for?
What are you working on next?
A paranormal fantasy series. I have not decided if it is adult, young adult or teenage yet. But I love to write adult. There is a less of a boundary there.
Who are your favorite authors?
Kelley Armstrong and Diana Gabaldon.
