How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has provided me a platform as an author and equipped me with more resources I ever thought I could get in one place.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I began writing poetry and plays in college and was always a lover of English as a child. Writing was always part of my life in some form.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Being able to restore confidence in readers and share my wisdom.
What do your fans mean to you?
Without my fans I could not write or know what they desire.
What are you working on next?
I am working on business books surrounding my time in human resources and how what I've learned can help employees in the workplace.
Who are your favorite authors?
Napoleon Hill, Tony Robbins, Maya Angelou and Gary Chapman.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Knowing that each day is another opportunity to learn and write more. It's a fresh start - so I can forget about yesterday's challenges.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Being a caregiver for my elderly father and staying busy with the hobbies I enjoy like movies and bowling.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I locate them on Smashwords or Amazon.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
About being strong, free and victorious after being raised sheltered.
What is your writing process?
I keep my journal with me (car, home, work, etc.) and write whenever a thought comes to me. I then dedicate time to writing every day. After journaling I try to use an outline to organize my thoughts.
How do you approach cover design?
I am very creative so I try to make sure it catches the readers attention and leaves a sense of curiosity. I want people to want to know what's inside.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first story I ever read was a biblical story about Jonah and the whale. It basically helped me understand the importance of doing what you know is the right thing and when you don't, the impact it could have on you and those around you.
