Interview with Brian Boudreau

What's the story behind your latest book?
My publication of spiritual poems issued from a period of soul searching and spiritual seeking during a very difficult time in my life during which I reflected on our human condition in relation to time, eternity and God.
What do you read for pleasure?
C.S. Lewis
When did you first start writing?
My interest in writing started in grade 6 when I completely read a one-year textbook of short stories and completed all the related comprehension assignments, over one weekend, to impress my teacher. He hated me for it.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing is about connecting with people and hoping it helps them in some way.
What are you working on next?
Stage productions.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Where will the day bring me and to whom will I be an inspiration or a kind heart along their journey.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
It was a short story, a suspense thriller about a man who lost his mind during grief over the loss of his wife and was barely saved by his daughter from committing suicide.
What is your writing process?
I begin with long periods of contemplation, observation, discussion, listening and reading. I then pen my thoughts and rework over and over and over.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Growing up in the bohemian area of downtown Montreal in the 70s, a cosmopolitan city of diverse culture, politics and social ideals, has allowed me to think of " the possible" beyond the mundane.
How do you approach cover design?
My wife is a brilliant artist and I use Canva for the format and layout design.
Describe your desk
A computer and a cup of coffee on a Bombay desk.
