Interview with Sam Boyd

What motivated you to become an indie author?
No question about this reading about Smashwords on the Internet. Had I not read and been encouraged by this then I don't think my work would ever have been published. Now it drives me to do better.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
If you look at the answer to my last question I think you will see that Smashwords has done everything for me. Made it so easy to publish my books. Without them I would never have been published. To me they are the very best and I will be forever thankful I found them.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The freedom of expression it gives me. The way a story line can set off a series of ideas in my mind that I have to jot down headings so that I don't forget them. The discipline needed to write and the excitement it brings into my life by recording in many ways my dreams. There is never a day when I don't write something. Some days may only be 800 words on others it might be 5000 or more. But no matter how many that day it will always make me feel alive.
What do your fans mean to you?
I have not got a fan base yet hopefully one day I will. To have someone following my books would be awesome
Who are your favorite authors?
Stuart Woods and Lee Childs. But there are also about ten others who I read regularly. Like Wilbur Smith for example.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Just relaxing and finding inspiration from this beautiful country called Thailand.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes it Jules Vernes Moby Dick and I felt I was on boat and journey with them.
were you good at English in School.
Not really. I always liked reading and getting involved emotionally with books. I loved the adventure. But I was much better at math than English.
What do you read for pleasure?
Depends on my mood. Sometimes a good romance fits the bill perfectly.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Oh that's easy. To write a book that one day becomes a best seller. If you can't dream it you can't do it.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
By browsing through Smashwords.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes it was for an essay in English. I won't say any more.

Honour, duty and keeping a stiff upper lip are seen as the essential characteristics of an English gentleman, but they come with Consequences, something Lord Jack Turner learns the hard way. He makes decisions that he believes are right but impact the lives of the people he loves the most in ways he could not have predicted. These Consequences create a heady mix of unrequited love, l
